The production challenge behind the design of the Vico sofa by Jaime Hayon has been further developed in a new leather version. The piece’s upholstery method, first conceived in fabric, is particularly complex as the material is not glued directly to the frame, as is often the case in the production of slim line sofas, but worked around the structure. This requires particular skill, typical of Cassina’s long heritage culture and expertise in upholstery workmanship, from the way in which the leather is cut and stitched to the painstaking covering of the frame. The innovative use of cast aluminium for the base has also been extended from a single matt black version to a polish aluminium and warm satin bronze finishes.
