The architects at the Munich company Nuyken von Oefele and austrian architect Jürgen Stoppel designed two fundamentally different pavilions. One is made of wood and is reminiscent of the kind of shack frequently seen in the country. The other is a column-free glass structure that affords an unimpeded 360° view. The idea behind both edifices is modular space that can be expanded and fitted out individually, and which is not reduced to the typology of a garden shed or pavilion. Rather, given their surrounding sliding doors on all sides and retractable or fold-away construction elements, they give the impression of being an extension to living space.

Two garden pavilions that could not be more different - and yet are designed by the same firm of architects.
