Metamorphosis of the facade

"Tecu Brass" is a material for facades that consists of a copper and tin alloy. The material starts out with a warm reddish/golden brown color, a hue that then changes if exposed to the elements. Used for the new wing to the parish church in Leifers, Italy, is a marvelous example of the change. The "Tecu Brass" panels originally shimmered gold when in 2004 the new wing was attached to the existing church building. Today, they are far darker and in some places are now dark brown or anthracite gray. Compared to classic copper, Tecu Brass oxidizes at a far slower rate.
