Simply take some sand, add a little concrete to it and mix it with plenty of glass fibers. Then press the mixture, which consists of 95 percent mineral resources, into a 13-mm-thick fiberglass-reinforced concrete panel. The resulting product is called "fibreC", made by the Austrian company Rieder, and comes in different colors and finishes. "fibreC" is used in the construction of commercial buildings, apartment blocks and private family homes. When planning a project, Rieder collaborates closely with architects and provides assistance from early on in the planning phase. For example with its building platform "Protoarchitecture", which gives planners and builders the opportunity to create small mock-ups or full-size details of particular complex projects. As part of the collaboration the product is tested for practical application in the given context and can be tailored or amended to suit special structural requirements if necessary.
The material composition used in "fibreC" is particularly environmentally friendly. Given the combination of materials, the composite is not considered harmful to either human health or the environment. Moreover, the fiberglass-reinforced concrete panels are easy to dispose of.
