Villa on Lake Lucerne by Philippe Stuebi

The compact, angular structure of this villa on Lake Lucerne in Switzerland displays an ornamental façade on both the entrance and lake-facing sides. Oriented towards the Pilatus, a massif close to Lucerne, the architects Phillipe Stuebi and Eberhard Tröger have created a façade out of white concrete elements with circular holes, which offer glimpses of the two-story orangery, a lounge, a guest wing and the stairwell inside. A loggia with round glass blocks protrudes from the building and affords a wonderful view of the lake and surrounding villages, while coarse rendering covers the side façades. The ground floor makes use of the natural incline of the land, then opens out in a lavish pool, which lies level with the lake. The 25-meter pool, half inside and half outside, is embedded in a white terrazzo panel that stretches from the pool bar along the boat house made of white-stained concrete and down to the banks of Lake Lucerne.
