Light is just light
What is the difference between light and lighting? With “Verto”, Naoto Fukasawa has designed a luminaire for Belux that is based upon the principle of reflection. Nina Reetzke met the Japanese designer for a chat.Clear the stage for stars of lighting trade fair "Light+Building" in Frankfurt: Shadows, sphere lights and glass tubes all stole the show at this display of new products.
At the Frankfurt lighting trade fair, Light+Building, everything revolved around LED technology and its advancement. But it was those lighting manufacturers who had more to offer by the way of technical features that stole the limelight.

In search of better light

Everything is illuminated

A chandelier is not only a source of light. In the palace in Versailles hundreds of candles once set the rock crystal glass sparkling; today energy-saving lamps, halogen lamps and LEDs illuminate prisms in all manner of shapes. An exhibition at Zurich's Museum Bellerive is dedicated to the "jewels of light".A ‘balneario' is a Spanish spa. In redesigning the Tiberius Baths in the Spanish town of Panticosa, the architects from Madrid-based studio Moneo Brock came up with a highly contemporary and yet decidedly sensitive reinterpretation of the classic ‘balneario'.
You were able to admire light in virtually any possible form and appearance at the Light+Building trade fair in Frankfurt. And in particular the LEDs offered in all conceivable variations caused a sensation this year. Yet, many designers still have difficulties with the Copernican Revolution in favor of these tiny lights.
