There was a time when floor coverings were called carpets, parquet or tiles. Today, the term is “trend floor coverings” or simply “fashion items”. We visited the Domotex fair and now know and what takes off when it gets floored.

At the London Design Festival Sebastian Wrong presented his new collection “Wrong For Hay” in a stylish Georgian house at St James’s Park. Uta Abendroth spoke to him about the direction the portfolio takes, London as a location and working with the Danes.

With “7 Studies”, gallerist and furniture maker Jörg Schellmann is showing in Munich how seven renowned artists and designers, among them Stefan Diez, Liam Gillick and Donald Judd, are furnishing workspaces. And that they are not all that far from the Renaissance studiolo.

The Design Miami trade fair, which runs parallel to Art Basel, was not very convincing. It lacked a clear curatorial thrust, exciting exhibitions and statements. And not least there was no clear position on contemporary design, although this is so sorely needed.
