Kerasan, Italy
KERASAN turns out 170,000 pieces a year on a 15,000 square meter industrial site. Production is partly vitreous china and partly fine fire clay and is tested in every production phase from the preparation of the mixes where the raw material is analysed before being sent into the production cycle to then move onto checks of the semi-finished goods with inspection in the casting, testing and later enamelling phases. The enamelling is carefully carried out to ensure complete enamelling of the siphon and the external flange, an important aspect for the hygiene of the WC.
The checks of the finished product regard both its form and its function, in the case of lavatory pans, once it is certain there is nothing to blemish the appearance, the article is subjected to a pressure test. This test is to verify whether there are cracks that are not visible, cracks that later might cause a loss of liquid once the article has been installed. Every lavatory pan bears a label with the word "Passed" on the successful completion of the test. Having passed these routine checks, the piece is placed in a cardboard box if that is how it is to be delivered or simply placed on pallets. KERASAN also produces shower trays.
Quality standards are permanently in a state of reformulation in order to enhance them through ongoing testing of raw materials and production processes.
