IMM COLOGNE 2016

In the ring! imm cologne Featured Editions 2016

This year, the 14 selected participants have developed elaborate and unusual installations for the “Featured Editions”. For example, Cazzaniga Mandelli Pagliarulo’s chair “Nemea” for Pedrali hangs like a perilous tightrope walker at a lofty height, designer duo Kaschkasch has “Rail” for Zeitraum glide elegantly across the podium, and Pascal Bosetti sets his chair for Conmoto all a-flickering. By contrast, E15 presents copycats of its “Backenzahn” stool and Roomsafari’s “c.lamp” sets digital birds singing.

The special show at the imm cologne, curated by Stylepark together with the trade-fair team led by Creative Director Dick Spierenburg is on display in Halls 2.2 and 3.2 – and is without doubt one of the highlights of the “Pure Editions” format. Designers and manufacturers stage their objects for the Featured Editions in a context a far cry from everyday life and beyond the pale of the conventional trade-fair settings. After all, the format focuses explicitly not on some commercial extension to trade-fair booths but on artistic interventions and experimental collaboration with designers, artists, architects or graphic designers.

In light of the list of installations on show, visitors can look forward to pieces that are as surprising as they are impressive: Alongside those mentioned above there is Alias, a design by Alfredo Häberli, Sankt Johanser with a set by Hubert and Matthias Sanktjohanser, a Jasper Morrison feature by Vitra, Emir Salkic in cooperation with Zanat, and Mitja with Redesign. Sebastian Herkner has designed installations for not one but two manufacturers, namely Ames and Pulpo, while Giulio Cappellini concentrates as one could imagine exclusively on Cappellini, and last but not least Fatboy gives things a completely new scale.
