One summer in Milan
von Nancy Jehmlich | May 20, 2008

Scuola Politecnica di Design SPD in Milan is offering four workshops this summer – with outstanding designers. From June 27 – July 24, 2008 as part of the Deep Design Summer School there will be one-week courses run by Ross Lovegrove, Fernando und Humberto Campana, Matali Crasset and Martí Guixé. Summer School: swapping experiences and exploring the limits of your imagination. Fully in keeping with the motto “Go deeper into contemporary design”.
Each workshop will actively involve design-oriented companies – the partners are 3M, Alessi, Microsoft and Serralunga. The companies will present their prospects and describe the challenges they feel need to be mastered. For example, the workshop led by Martí Guixé will focus on a very topical matter: nomadic lifestyles. This change calls for a new way of equipping our bodies. The “Prosthesis” workshop, held together with Alessi, will explore and create new systems extensions for the human body that better square up to higher requirements.
The Summer School is intended for students of design or architecture, but can also be attended by experts or lecturers. The workshops will be in English. Board and lodging will be provided. And it all costs a lot less than you might think.
