Roman Signer: Street images and Super-8 films

In Roman Signer's exhibition "Street images and Super-8 Films" two seemingly mutually contradictory worlds collide. On the one side there is the photographic representation of a trip Signer made through East Europe. The themes reveal a multiplicity of impressions that he saw kerb-side, above all memorials to the victims of road traffic accidents and small sales stands. The second part of the exhibition seems to be completely detached from this theme. A total of 36 large-format Super-8 films are presented one after the other – he took them between 1975 and 1989. "Street images and Super-8 films" is open to visitors through April 22 at the Aargauer Kunsthalle.

Cindy Sherman: her own body as pictorial subject

Cindy Sherman is a master of transformation and artistic self-representation. Her photographic oeuvre focuses on her own body. Using costumes, Sherman slips into different roles and constantly gives herself a new identity. The result is often provocative and disturbing, and sometimes bizarrely amusing. With her stereotypical representations, Sherman highlights her view of the role of women in art and in a male-dominated society. On display at the retrospective exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York are 170 photographs from her oeuvre – through June 11.

Albert Oehlen: deliberately not a retrospective

Albert Oehlen is one of the "Neo-Expressionists", that group of artists who addressed the genre of painting so critically. The exhibition at Kunstmuseum Bonn runs through June 3 and presents a broad selection of his works to date. Oehlen has specially created new pieces for the Bonn show, which can therefore definitely not be considered a retrospective. Instead, you can sense the tension in the still incomplete oeuvre of a German painter who is widely considered one of the most important of his generation.

Young designers from all over Europe will no doubt be flocking to Stuttgart from March 9-11 to present their fresh visions of design to the world. On the occasion of the 20th jubilee show, the organizers have not only opted for additional presentation space. In addition, visitors will be able to enjoy an exciting accompanying program addressing a variety of themes. The program includes not only creative ideas for the kids, but also support for local design and young talents.
