Are you more of a Cloud Number Nine or rather a Deep Space Nine?
Whichever part of the universe you prefer, Cosmo is always open to your favourites ideas. The latest development from next is called Cosmo and manages to impress with its outstanding dimensions of 88 cm in height and a diameter of 160 cm – manufactured in a single piece.
Our design goal was to create a luminaire that is optimally suited to illuminate wide and generous spaces, such as lobbies, stairwells and galleries, but can also be used to shops, bistros and lower-ceiling reception areas in an energy conscious way. The result is Cosmo – a luminaire that changes its appearance with every new perspective and which looks fascinating both as a stand-alone as well as in clusters. A circle of six light knots (each equipped with two compact fluorescent lamps Dulux T/E 32W) dissolves into the third dimension or hovers as a pure light form above every room. As a standard feature, Cosmo is fitted with six dimmable EBs (Dali).
However, as much as Cosmo's shape and quality of light may fascinate you, it is also worth pointing out the unique way in which it is manufactured. Cast as a single piece in a two-cavity mould in a rotation process Cosmo's design proved to be an unprecedented challenge both in terms of engineering and precision.

The Stuttgart edition of the architect’s trade fair Architect@Work has just come to a close and it certainly provided an impressive confirmation of the trend toward smaller, professionally curated event formats in the construction industry. There were over 3,200 professional visitors on both days, around 300 innovations on show by 165 exhibitors – and it has received a positive verdict from visitors, exhibitors and organizers alike.
