01 product description
Product description
The ‘van Amburgh’ stool has been created in homage to the great Victorian Lion tamer Isaac van Amburgh. The performer became the star of his travelling menagerie and had many fans including Queen Victoria. He became known as the ‘Brute Tamer of Pompeii’ for his Roman costumes and his amazing feats of bravery. His act included placing his head in the Lions mouth and his finale of making a Lamb lie down with a Lion in a recreation of the biblical image of peace in Eden.
The platforms used in his performances were decorated with the distinctive diamond pattern, which served as the inspiration for the van Amburgh stool. For its first appearance during 100% Design the stool will be launched in anthracite grey polypropylene.
The van Amburgh stool is suitable for both indoor and outdoor Lion taming
