With “Chassis” by Stefan Diez, office furniture specialist Wilkhahn is presenting a chair at the Salone del Mobile in Milan that is more than just a chair and can do more than simply shine in an office or conference room. For “Chassis” is now also available with various fabric covers and interchangeable seat shells, Thomas Wagner spoke to Jochen Hahne, Burkhard Remmers and Stefan Diez about the “Chassis” system.
At the 13th Designers' Saturday Stylepark celebrated the occasion of the 10th anniversary of its foundation with a large 10, candy-floss, and a sky full of colorful balloons. And the interest was so great that the pink Stylepark balloons were soon floating all over Langenthal.
The exhibition entitled "Ideen sitzen / Ideas that sit well" at Hamburg's Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe invites visitors to peruse chairs, armchairs and sofas. The tour of the museum swiftly morphs into a voyage of discovery through the history of interior design, if not even the history of ideas and cultural history of recent decades.

It could well be the sensation at Orgatec: For Wilkhahn the designer Stefan Diez has designed a stackable chair featuring technology from the automobile industry that cuts a fine figure not only in the office.On the silver screen and at Orgatec, office environments are depicted as having a life of their own. What kind of image of reality do they convey? A rummage through the film archives and walkabout in the trade fair halls.
What emerged at the imm Cologne in 2011 was that the fair has steadied, and in the form of "Living Kitchen" and "Pure Textiles" has gained two important new areas. Thus, the Cologne hodge-podge of the diversity of homes has something for everyone, for a man of the world, a man of the masses, and for kids, too. That said, the high-end design did not live up to expectations.
Offices are increasingly turning into social centers. To make certain the stress of constant communication does not become too fierce and the office becomes a social flashpoint, the modern work nomad withdraws into a chic little shed or a new kind of basket-chair.
Admittedly, the borders of the Zona Tortona are a little frayed at the edges and in the new design district Ventura Lambrate designers are pushing into an area where artists once thronged, but there is a great deal to be discovered here. And, when all is said, when it comes to furniture design, things do tend to go around in productive circles.
