The architects at Fran Silvestre Arquitectos have designed a detached home in a small Spanish town outside Valencia. Sharp jagged cliffs tower up directly behind the polygonal building, cliffs topped by a ruined castle. Otherwise, the surroundings feature rural buildings that contrast sharply with the strictly geometric residence. "Any attempt to have the house imitate or approximate its surroundings would," so the architects suggest, "have resulted in a misleading statement."
The interior thrives on the high ceilings and skylights that ensure the entire home is suffused with natural daylight. A staircase leads up through the two floors to the roof top. Here, the interior is on a plane flush with the roof terrace which to the north cuts into the lower slope of the cliffs.
