Lime green network of perforated cladding panels

The Rinkeby School and Academy near Stockholm acts as a cultural focus for the residents of the community. The purpose of the Rinkeby Academy is to provide a bridge between education and business in the area and to help prepare young people for employment.

When the building burnt down, it was quickly decided to replace it. Aperto Arkitekterbyggkonsulter AB were asked to design the new building.
Aperto decided to give the new building a distinctive and unique external appearance by cladding it in perforated aluminium panels, provided by RMIG. This would make Rinkeby Academy stand out and at the same time improve security and provide protection from vandalism. Furthermore, the perforation would allow plenty of light into the varnished birch plywood classrooms and study areas. For the cladding of Rinkeby Academy RMIG has supplied 77 individual aluminium panels of four millimeter thickness, finished on both sides in bright lime green NCS S 2070-G70Y, specialized for exterior usage. Besides those panels RMIG provides a series of perforated Aluminum sheets for interior use as well.
