It’s not art but does that make it design?
“Werner Aisslinger – Home of the Future” is currently on display in Berlin’s Haus am Waldsee, an exhibition space for contemporary art. A designer presenting his work in the art context: Can that be a good thing?
Design is an attitude
At this year’s imm cologne the “Featured Editions” exhibition, created in collaboration with Stylepark, formed an integral component of the new “Pure Editions” hall concept used to strengthen the trade fair’s position within the high-end segment, a concept that proved to be an instant success. Ten platforms dotted throughout the hall formed the basis of presentations by selected exhibitors. We documented a number of them on film and in interviews with the creative minds behind them.
The Barcelona Pastiche
The imm Cologne is swiftly getting back on an even keel. And how are designers and manufacturers making use of the opportunity? A tour of the trade fair shows that they often resorted to the tried-and-true, reanimating and dressing it up for contemporary use. Even Konstantin Grcic opted for a tongue-in-cheek approach to a design classic.
