La serie Mirrors di Ron Gilad gioca con uno degli oggetti più incredibili che l’uomo abbia mai inventato: lo specchio. La superficie riflettente, grazie alla creatività e l’ingegno del designer, diventa una sorta di piano magico che una volta acceso rivela suggestivi scorsi architettonici o romantici interni. Chi guarda attraverso lo specchio si troverà confuso tra la realtà che lo circonda e l’immagine che Gilad, discretamente, suggerisce attraverso un disegno semplice e perfetto. “Gli Untitled della collezione Mirrors sono lo spazio fantasma che sta tra la realtà e il suo riflesso. Quando le luci sono spente, le vedute di città incastonate nello strato meno visibile dello specchio restano nascoste, svelasi non appena gli specchi vengono accesi. La collezione sfuma la realtà per condurre in un mondo surreale.” Ron Gilad Anche quando si cimenta con le silhouette di alcune tra le lampade più riconoscibili (Parentesi di Achille Castiglioni e Pio Manzù, 2097 di Gino Sarfatti e Fucsia di Achille Castiglioni), il gioco di realtà e finzione si fa a ancora più attraente: guardando nello specchio si ha la sensazione che le lampade siano nello spazio accanto a noi. “Guardandosi allo specchio lo spettatore si stupirà nello scoprire che il decoro ha anche una funzione.” R.
