An optimum workspace requires the application of ideal forms. From a geometric perspective, a hexagon is such a form, but it is also more than that. It is a constructional principle that is encountered again and again in the environment, which functions as a node element in stable, adaptable connections and intelligent networks. Haworth has exploited this principle in its range of Hexagon furnishings, in which a sturdy constructional principle results in a variety of possibilities. The designers Wolfgang Blume (B-Plan) and Günter Hartmann (h und h product design) have jointly designed the office of the future, in association with the Haworth Development Center. This is the case with the hexagonal node element, after which this flexible product line has been named. It constitutes a basic frame, with which leg, crosspiece and support elements can be connected simply and sturdily. An additional benefit is that it is highly flexible, which results in constant movement and change, considerably increasing the comfort level of the user's working environment. Hexagon has been conceived as part of an all-inclusive office design, and can be easily combined with cupboard, desk-drawer and wall systems. As a customisable system, it is able to transform a workspace into an efficient partner. The programme also features a number of accessories as well as screening and organisational elements, which enhances the system's flexibility and practical usefulness in any applicational environment. With Hexagon, quality of life in the workplace becomes a design feature. This gives the range plenty of scope for individual wishes, allowing the customer to accommodate his own personal tastes. With Hexagon, the concept of dynamic working is more than just an expression. The furniture line takes into account the fact that every user has his own ergonomic requirements. For instance, the product portfolio includes standing/sitting workplaces. The electronically adjustable desktop means that the user is able to change his position and posture at any time.
