Material in the interplay
18 October 2010
The façade of the detached KA house in Munich is horizontally structured by the use of different materials. The ground floor and the upper story feature full-surface glazing whereby cladding is grey fibermesh concrete panels. In the case of the cladding for the middle level a different material is used, with a wraparound band of cedar-wood boards decorating the facade. Behind them are longitudinal window elements, which have flush-closing casement shutters to provide sufficient light protection and thus preserve the privacy of the living quarters inside. The natural hues of the few materials and colors dominate both the façade and the building's interior.
