Dick van Hoff is a born communicator, perpetually engaged in an enthusiastic dialogue with the consumer. He analyzes our behaviors and then designs objects that answer our needs efficiently and robustly. He relishes the thought that his products will continue to evolve over time as their owners spill on them, mark them, and nick them.
Van Hoff’s lengthy resume includes collaborations with Royal Tichelaar, special commissions, and exhibitions. He works as an independent product designer in Arnhem and produces most of his own works. He teaches at the Design Academy, Eindhoven. Through his practice and his teaching, he raises provocative questions about our use of resources. He encourages students, colleagues, and customers alike to “reject the unnecessary.”
His work was purchased by The Centraal Museum, Utrecht, Museum Boymans van Beuningen, Rotterdam, and the Fond National d'Art Contemporaine, France.
