The design office Murken Hansen was founded in 1999 by Hauke Murken and Sven Hansen. It is located in Berlin-Kreuzberg.

Our Clients are: Nils Holger Moormann, Menu, Cor, Pieperconcept, KFF, Troika, Radius Design and Mawa Design.

Summarizing our work it is obvious that mechanics and simplification happen to be the recurrent characteristics of our products.

With mechanics we somehow try to make objects more intelligent and on the other hand we enjoy working on the basic attributes of archetypes. Our best results are a combination of both: a simple product with an unexpected intelligence. We develop our ideas generally with 1:1 models. In order to design viable and succesful products we check production and cost issues.

Murken Hansen won several design awards: Design Plus, Bosch Work Art, Design Preis Schweiz, IF Hannover, Designzentrum Nordrhein Westfalen, Deutscher Designer Club, Good Design Award Japan.

The folding table "Last Minute" created for Nils Holger Moormann is part of the collection of museums:
Neue Sammlung München, Kunstgewerbemuseum Berlin and Cooper Hewitt Museum New York.

We did lectures for different universities, et al.: HDK and UDK Berlin, Burg Giebichenstein Halle, Hochschule Dessau and Bauhaus Uni-versität Weimar 2009 visiting professorship Hauke Murken at Burg Giebichenstein, Halle
