Among the typical features of their work is the interplay of colours. Stefan Scholten and Carole Baijings see the world more colourfully than many others do. He is a graduate of the Eindhoven Design Academy, she is self-taught; together they established the Amsterdam-based design studio that bears their name in 2000. Characteristic of their special feeling for colour are their 'Colour Plaids', which have achieved considerable fame. Their work sells all over the world and is displayed in museums; they have also gained international design prizes including two Dutch Design Awards and a Wallpaper Design Award.

In “Colour One for Mini” Scholten & Baijings have created an installation, that conceptually challenges common conventions in surrounding the car. The Dutch designer duo dissected a “Mini One”, revamping the individual parts with new colors and textures. Things that show we are alive

Dutch designer duo Scholten & Baijings add subtle patterns and colors to forms, make fabric rhubarb stalks objects of communication, envelop design classics with their "Colour Plaids" and reinterpret traditional Dutch items of furniture. At the Milan Furniture Fair, they premiered designs with Established & Sons. Markus Frenzl caught up with the designers in Rotterdam and Milan.
