This wide electric grill offers an extremely large surface and Gaggenau's new covered heating elements under the cast-steel grill, which prevent smoke caused by burning fat. The VR 421 comes standard with two cast-steel grills and a large cast-steel griddle plate. Two 1500-watt heating elements over a lavastone container and a stainless-steel hob can be controlled independently, so the VR 421 hob can also be used for frying, braising or keeping food warm. Naturally, all appliances in the Vario 400 series can be combined.

Additional Features
Stainless steel cover
After use, the electric grill can be sealed with its stainless steel cover, which is hinged to the device frame. When the cover is closed the result is a harmonious visual line with other Vario built-in appliances in the 400 series.
Integrated control console
The electric grill VR 421 includes an integrated control console that is installed in the base cupboard. The two large control knobs with illuminated ring are safe to operate even with wet hands and permit continuously variable control of the energy supply. With a corresponding control console, the electric grill can also be combined with other Vario built-in appliances in the 400 series.
Optional Accessories
Cast roaster pan
This accessory for grilling and fat-free cooking on a flat surface features a high edge on three sides to effectively protect against grease splashes. Its front edge is bent slightly upwards to prevent leaking of grease and roast juices. The finned underside warrants optimum heat distribution.
Connecting trim
For combination with other Vario appliances in the 400 series.
Connecting trim with timer
The timer with short-time reminder also offers the function of the automatic timer for two Vario appliances or two cooking zones.

Grill heating element that can be controlled separately and swivelled
Both grill heating elements can be controlled separately. Thus, you can grill on the front part, while using the rear part for keeping food warm. And both heating elements can simply be tilted up to clean the stainless steel hob.
