Lammhults is launching Archal, an elegant aluminum chair by Danish designers Johannes Foersom & Peter Hiort-Lorenzen. The cast aluminum chair is scaled down and poetic, designed for conferences and public settings, but equally comfortable in a design-conscious home interior.
"We set Peter and Johannes the brief of designing a simple, elegant, exclusive chair that will become the natural new chair for public environments. We have spent three years on product development, which shows how hard it can be to create a simple design. Archal is the essence of the knowledge Lammhults has amassed in technology, innovation and design, and we are very proud of the results," says Managing Director Åke Jansson.
The designers themselves confirm that they wanted to challenge the existing Lammhults collection with a chair made using a brand new technique. The Archal chair is cast in aluminum and comes in different versions: with or without armrests, as a swivel chair or a stackable chair. The seat shell is made from molded wood veneer (ash or wenge) and is also available with a fully or partially upholstered seat and back.
Peter Hiort-Lorenzen and Johannes Foersom follow the philosophy that furniture should not dominate its surroundings, and always aim to create strong yet tranquil design. As Peter explains: "The hardest aspect of our work is reaching the point where our design is completely distinct, a point where all the ‘noise' has been removed from the design." Over the years their designs have won several international awards.

There’s always something new waiting to be discovered – in homes, in an old building near the docks, a repurposed parking lots, or even an attic. The Stockholm Design Week team even went so far as to fill a tunnel with robots.
