They met whilst studying furniture design at Buckinghamshire college in 1995 and then went on to establish their own practise in 2001. A method of working unites the Frank portfolio projects as in many other ways the designs produced by West and Edmonds are incredibly diverse; from interior design to accessories to furniture and product design. Rigorous pragmatism often manifests itself in Frank’s work as an ambition toward economy of material or labour. West and Edmonds absorb themselves with the function of an object and choose to underline their own detachment from design pre-occupied only with style. Although Frank boast a substantial portfolio of work this, the M5 table, was the first of the duo’s designs to be put into production.
