Biographie

Mathieu Matégot (1910-2001) begann nach seinem Studium an der Schule für Kunst und Architektur in Budapest, Ungarn, Bühnenbilder und Bildwirkereien für das Nationaltheater zu gestalten. 1931 ließ er sich in Paris, Frankreich, nieder. Als Freiwilliger der

französischen Armee wurde er während des Zweiten Weltkriegs in Gefangenschaft genommen und erst 1944 freigelassen. Nach seiner Rückkehr begann er mit der Herstellung handgefertigter Möbel und entwarf innerhalb eines Jahrzehnts eine ganze Reihe von Design

klassikern. Mit Beginn der 1960er Jahre widmete er sich wieder seiner ursprünglichen Leidenschaft, der Bildwirkerei.
