Haus S in Wiesbaden von Christ-Christ Architekten
With the launch of its oval-shaped THUB series in 2002, Modular was one of the first lighting designers to capitalize on the trend to include rounded and organic shapes in its product offering. THUB became a reference in architectural lighting circles in
virtually no time. Its most important characteristics include the inward oriented synthetic mould, which lets through the light and the combination of halogen with compact fluorescence. Modular continues to build on the same organic principle in 2006. A
metal plate has since replaced the fixture’s synthetic body. The undulating ends of the mould are used as a flange and result in a smooth ceiling finish. The matt white structure lacquer finish contributes to this effect, as the appliance seemingly
fuses with the ceiling. At Light + Building 2006, Modular pushes back the THUB METAL series’ borders with several new appliances, which are also perfectly suited for residential integration.
A new generation of halogen recessed spots in white
structure lacquer, the MINI-THUB METAL, is the apex of the series: the spots have an organic shape and can be adjusted around the central axis. In addition, Modular will also be introducing the THUB METAL PL, containing a compact fluorescence lamp. This
fixture comes with a comfort grid and provides optimum lighting performance. The THUB METAL WALL comes with a fluorescence lamp, a traditional light bulb or LED strip, which can be placed behind the oval shell, thus providing an opportunity to create a p
ersonal and unique ambiance.
