“Napoli Afragola Station”, designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, was recently commissioned. The new gateway to South Italy, the station will cater to both high-speed trains and the LRT. The building’s elongated shape runs like a bridge across the tracks, its flowing shape and wave-like steel girders of different lengths running above the glass roof symbolizes the flow and motion of passengers. Moreover, solar panels and a system of natural and mechanical ventilation is destined to keep the new build’s energy balance highly sustainable. (am)
