Seoul: A garden on the highway

Dutch architecture office MVRDV has transformed an abandoned overhead section of a former highway in South Korea’s capital into a greened pedestrian walkway and bridge. Similar to the High Line Park in New York City, the flyover, which is 983 meters long, now boasts countless plants. New stairways lead to restaurants, hotels and retail outlets. The project is part of the many efforts to introduce more green areas into the heart of Seoul and work to achieve more of an ecological balance. (am)
