The Award Winners
Here they are: the 29 innovations Stylepark awards at the Salone del Mobile 2018 as part of Stylepark Selected.
The Lune d’Argent armchair was born out of a collaboration between the designer and Fermob, originally designed as an entry to the Fondation Cartier’s Petit Café competition, which it won. It was a radical, ground-breaking departure that broke with the established, uncreative codes of the outdoor furniture sector and, as such, was a real commercial success.
Lune d’Argent was the brainchild of designer Pascal Mourgue. It was a unique combination of art, sculpture and object, which paid homage to the concept of industrial quality – a major feature of the 1980s – and signalled the introduction of design into the outdoor furniture market. It is a simple, graphical, sophisticated and light piece of furniture, with a name (which means «silver moon») that is a poetic nod to its chromium-plated finish. The seat is now being re-released to the same specifications as the original model. It is the perfect addition to the Idoles catalogue, writing the latest chapter in the epic love story between the manufacturer and the world of design.
