For thousands of years, mortise and tenon joinery has been used by woodworkers. Through the assistance of computer-aided design and high pressure, water-jet cutting technology, Jonathan Nesci has revamped this ancient joinery technique. Made of 1/4" thic

k solid aluminum plate, the elements of The Secretary are designed as individual pieces of a larger square-peg in square-hole assembly. The ends of the tenons are plug-welded and ground smooth. The resulting mono-form is then encased in a low-sheen black

powder-coat. By using this specialized joinery, Jonathan has enabled endless shapes to be fabricated without visible welds.
