The media company Condé Nast Germany has moved to the Richard Meier Building in Munich after an extensive redesign.
The Rivera collection suggests a contemporary interpretation of retro elegance reminiscent of a typically Mediterranean vibe.
This project is driven by a desire to experiment with contrasts and unique combinations of materials for the outdoors - lightweight metal, the reassuring warmth of wood, sophisticated weaves and the amazing elegance of fabrics - all contribute to transform even outdoor spaces into intimate and cozy settings. A slender handcrafted base in solid iroko heartwood supports an enveloping backrest in woven polypropylene fiber, available in Light Grey and Dark Brown colors. The “cannage” effect weave requires great skill and manual ability as well as tireless, patient workmanship. The Rivera collection includes a two-seat sofa and a three-seat sofa, armchairs, ottoman, coffee table and chair that define retro elegance in contemporary language, using innovative materials to evoke sensations reminiscent of warm, typically Mediterranean settings, whether on a lakeside veranda or terrace overlooking the sea.
A premium wood, solid iroko heartwood – universally appreciated for its durability and waterproof qualities – adds great value to the base of the painstakingly hand-finished Rivera seating elements. The unique shape of the cantilevered wood frame that is distinctive to the 98 cm-deep armchair, as well as the two-seat sofa and three-seat sofa, allows it to be used as a table surface for glasses or other small objects.
The 84 cm-deep Rivera armchairs - perfect for pairing with the two-seat sofa - have restrained proportions and can also be used in projects where space is at a premium. Designed to fit seamlessly with the various seating elements, the coffee table comes with the top in fine grain, brushed, Silver Beola stone, set into the wood frame, for an extremely refined effect and timeless elegance.
The Rivera chair, with its compact design and graceful lines, epitomizes all the aesthetic values of the project and the ideal combination of materials. It rests on a sinuous Pewter color painted tubular metal structure specially treated for outdoor use, as are the padding materials for the soft cushions that are covered in water-proof fiber.
Structure: metal chassis, subjected to three phases of preparation: sand blasting, zinc primer for exterior use (facilitates and improves adhesion of the finish paint) and polyester powder coat for exterior use, available exclusively in glossy Pewter color. Frame made of solid kiln-dried iroko heartwood. Processed using computer controlled machines, assembled based on precision designs, joined and finished by hand. The iroko heartwood is treated with a protective coating, making it highly resistant to sunlight and weather, and features a level 35 gloss finish. The metal seat features an exclusive Minotti Studio laser-cut geometric design, and is then given a polyester powder coat exterior finish in glossy Pewter color. Backrests and armrests covered in 7 mm Ø Taslan* braided polypropylene fiber for a “canege” effect, available in Light Grey or Dark Brown. Protective polyethylene slides.
Cushions: seat and backrest cushions in high resilience polyurethane foam and eco-friendly, water- repellent fiber.
Covers: seat and backrest cushions can be completely removed.
