A touch of new objectivity

Quo vadis, furniture design? This year’s Salone del Mobile reveals a few ideas. An analysis in our glance back at the fair.
1950 modernism meets the modern workshop. Perf clashes the ruggedness of industrial cabinetry with elegant details and unique finishes. The lightweight, but sturdy, construction combines perforated panel doors with double walled sheet metal shell construction. Finishes included doors in shiny and aged copper booth set in a textured black shell. Softened by the internal wood shelving and highlighted with optional contrast handles in Diesel red. Part mechanical, all functional, these metal cabinets can work alone or in combination.
