Patricia’s Bohemian Rhapsody
by Thomas Wagner | 1/15/2012
Klara is a collection designed for Moroso by Patricia Urquiola. For Moroso it represents a new way of promoting the experience and skills of the Manzano manufacturing district, which for over a hundred years has been a model of Italian excellence in the industrial production of wooden seating.
A design based on clean lines, a curved yet simple shape that emphasises the wood's natural lightness and flexibility in a meticulously precise language. An article that is at once functional and decorative, with an elegant comfort that harks back to the chairs made in the early 20th century and, like them, features Viennese Straw, a hand-weaving technique first used in this part of Friuli a hundred years ago.
To bring its scheme to fruition, Moroso chose one of the leading names on the contemporary design scene, Patricia Urquiola, emphasising the importance of merging decorative art, craftsmanship and industrial design.
