Aging beautifully
von | 10/21/2010

Architectural company David Chipperfield Architects designed the building as well as the interiors of the Empire Riverside Hotel in Hamburg. The materials both for the structure and the interior fittings were chosen according to the way they age: They are consciously expected to age "beautifully" and develop a patina. The smoked oak wall panels, the anthracite-colored mineral material "HI-MACS" and a dark bitumen terrazzo correspond with the lively structure of the bronze-colored façade.
