International creative agency SYZYGY has rented an entire floor in a building dating from the late 19th century in Frankfurt’s stock-exchange district – and hired Wiesbaden-based architects 3deluxe to handle the interior design. The center of the room consists of a 22-meter-long flowing freeform with furniture made of the acrylic solid surface HI-MACS® - it houses the agency’s reception and relaxation areas. The organic design ensures that the built-in fittings made of solid acrylic stand out clearly from the existing architecture and creates an exciting spatial overlap of old and new. Differently sized openings in the wall, holes and fine graphic perforations all offer a view of the conference areas that surround the centerpiece. In this way, the lounge is also suffused with daylight. The futurist feel of the office premises is underpinned by the choice of material. Boasting seamless joints, thermal malleability, the robust HI-MACS® solid surface and with its warm haptic appeal enables architects immense scope in realizing truly audacious ideas. Given the mineral materials used for HI-MACS® even elaborate detailing is possible, such as the CNC-milled back-lit agency logo the reception desk now boasts. Or the custom-made furniture: a real-olivewood veneer has been inserted into the body of the acrylic surface. It’s a design reference to the historical building, which was made at a time when inlay work was all the rage in architecture and furniture design alike.
