Villa Oberfeld in Los Angeles – by Studio Pali Fekete
1/13/2012

The location of Villa Oberfeld is in itself anything but ordinary. From here you get a view out over the entire curving bay of the Californian metropolis of Los Angeles. The building has an L-shaped footprint. The long leg is framed on both sides by a long strip of water, in the front it's an infinity pool and at the back along the patio a green shimmering pond. On the higher side of the slope down, the villa's privacy is enhanced by a wall of fair-faced concrete and bamboo. The entrance area flows from here smoothly into the residential space and then opens out once more to the patios and garden. The Vulcano solid wood floor by Mafi creates an interior suffused with a livable feel. The green areas, the pool and the patio are staggered and boast travertine surrounds. The residence relies on a steel frame structure with wrap around sliding windows, whereby the proportions of the longitudinal shape is balanced by a harmonious grid of vertical sun protection blinds. The blades are made of customized white cement panels by Swisspearl, the same material used to clad the façade on the side facing the street.
