The Bauhaus pupil and later sole employee of Mies van der Rohe until 1934, Herbert Hirche, succeeded in this difficult task. Hirche was Professor at the Academy of Art in Stuttgart, and has been a member of the German Council of Design since 1961. He designed the first Italian restaurant in Stuttgart, the famous "Santa Lucia" twice. And with it the two Santa Lucia chairs, one in 1956 and the other 1969. The „Santa Lucia“ chair has nothing of the romantic Finca style or colonial backgrounds of the traditional rattan furniture. It is one of the rare modern architectural designs using rattan. The „Santa Lucia“ can be used as dining or kitchen chair, at home or in cafe´s or restaurants. What looks like the backrest performs as an armrest, it is comfortable and stackable. It is a design of which you will not get tired of and after more than 30 years it is proven to be timeless. Afraid of rattan? If one of the strings ever brakes, any basket weaver can repair the chair. Since 2009 the chair is also available in weather resistant and easy to clean polyethylen fiber. ![Rl Santa Lucia 1](https://www.stylepark.com/assets/transformations/articles/_697xAUTO_fit_center-center_none/rl_santa-lucia_1.jpg)![Rl Santa Lucia 2](https://www.stylepark.com/assets/transformations/articles/_697xAUTO_fit_center-center_none/rl_santa-lucia_2.jpg) ![Rl Santa Lucia 4](https://www.stylepark.com/assets/transformations/articles/_697xAUTO_fit_center-center_none/rl_santa-lucia_4.jpg)![Rl Santa Lucia 3](https://www.stylepark.com/assets/transformations/articles/_697xAUTO_fit_center-center_none/rl_santa-lucia_3.jpg) ![Santa Lucia Image 1](https://www.stylepark.com/assets/transformations/articles/_697xAUTO_fit_center-center_90_none/santa-lucia_image_1.jpg) - Request a quote - [Manufacturer's Product-Info](https://www.richard-lampert.de/en/furniture/santa-lucia-kopie/) - [Manufacturer's website](http://www.richard-lampert.de) All Rattan Collection products - [![E10](https://www.stylepark.com/assets/transformations/articles/_350x225_crop_center-center_none/e-10-rattan-chair-1.jpg)](https://www.stylepark.com/en/richard-lampert/e10) - [![Rattan Stool E 14](https://www.stylepark.com/assets/transformations/manufacturers/l/lampert/produkte/rattan-stool-e-14/_350x225_crop_center-center_none/rattan-stool-e-14-1.jpg)](https://www.stylepark.com/en/richard-lampert/rattan-stool-e-14) - [![Santa Lucia](https://www.stylepark.com/assets/transformations/articles/_350x225_crop_center-center_none/rl_santa-lucia_5.jpg)](https://www.stylepark.com/en/richard-lampert/santa-lucia) - [All products by Richard Lampert @ Stylepark](https://www.stylepark.com/en/products/manufacturer/richard-lampert) - [Richard Lampert @ Stylepark](https://www.stylepark.com/en/manufacturer/richard-lampert) Richard Lampert Related Articles [STYLEPARK RAFFLE Practical and Dynamic 1/1/2025 Stylepark is giving away the 'Salto' storage item by Richard Lampert.](https://www.stylepark.com/en/news/raffle-richard-lampert-salto) [AWARD NOMINATION Richard Lampert: SALTO by Tilla Goldberg 11/25/2024 ‘A piece of paper furniture for the office’ was the idea that Tilla Goldberg | Ippolito Fleitz Group developed together with furniture manufacturer Richard Lampert.
