llusion of depth

Swarovski Lighting has developed the "Infinite Aura" luminaire collection in collaboration with the design and innovation consultancy Ideo.
Marjan van Aubel´s three pieces for Swarovski Crystal Palace—a floor lamp, ceiling lamp and wall light—stand for a new generation of design, being the most future-forward it has ever produced. Her inspiration comes from the way the sky bends light, and how this is strikingly similar to the way crystals treat light. That’s why this time she has chosen to use White Opal crystals: “Unlike other crystals that refract the light,” she says, “the Opal crystal collects light inside. As a result, it has more subtle qualities, emitting softer hues of blue and red, depending on the angle.” To complement the fascinating Opal stones, which scatter light like the sky, the silhouette of her lamps is minimalist, each design utilizing a simple ring shape with a diameter of either 60cm or 90cm.
