The commanding, airy backrest, which also forms part of the chair base, resembles the typical shape of a potato chip. The backrest stands in strong contrast to the massive seat, which is supported by moulded plywood. In addition, seating comfort is enhanced with a removable back pillow. Next to its sensual shape, Chips is interesting for its manual wood-bending production process. It all begins with steaming the beechwood in special steam baths, where it stays for several hours. Once steamed, the wood is placed into metal moulds and secured by a special flange that applies pressure and allows it to be shaped into a new form. The wood is then dried, left to acclimatise for several weeks, sanded, stained and varnished. In Bystřice pod Hostýnem furniture has been made this way since 1861. ![Chips Lounge Chair Delcta Coffee Location 1](https://www.stylepark.com/assets/transformations/articles/_697xAUTO_fit_center-center_none/Chips-lounge-chair_Delcta-Coffee_location_1.jpg)![Chips Lounge Chair 1](https://www.stylepark.com/assets/transformations/articles/_697xAUTO_fit_center-center_none/CHIPS_lounge_chair-1_171214_121917.jpg)![Chips Lounge Chair 4](https://www.stylepark.com/assets/transformations/articles/_697xAUTO_fit_center-center_none/CHIPS_lounge_chair-4_171214_121933.jpg)![Chips Lounge Chair 2](https://www.stylepark.com/assets/transformations/articles/_697xAUTO_fit_center-center_none/CHIPS_lounge_chair-2_171214_121921.jpg)![Chips Lounge Chair Bloom Central Location](https://www.stylepark.com/assets/transformations/articles/_697xAUTO_fit_center-center_none/Chips-lounge-chair_Bloom-central_location.jpg) ![Chips Lounge Chair 3](https://www.stylepark.com/assets/transformations/articles/_697xAUTO_fit_center-center_none/CHIPS_lounge_chair-3_171214_121922.jpg)![Chips Lounge Chair Location 1](https://www.stylepark.com/assets/transformations/articles/_697xAUTO_fit_center-center_none/Chips-lounge-chair_location_1.jpg)![Chips Lounge Chair Location 4](https://www.stylepark.com/assets/transformations/articles/_697xAUTO_fit_center-center_none/Chips-lounge-chair_location_4.jpg)![Chips Lounge Chair Location 3](https://www.stylepark.com/assets/transformations/articles/_697xAUTO_fit_center-center_none/Chips-lounge-chair_location_3.jpg)![Chips Lounge Chair Location 2](https://www.stylepark.com/assets/transformations/articles/_697xAUTO_fit_center-center_none/Chips-lounge-chair_location_2.jpg) - [Manufacturer's Product-Info](https://www.ton.eu/en/chips-chair/) - [Manufacturer's website](http://www.ton.eu) - [All products by TON @ Stylepark](https://www.stylepark.com/en/products/manufacturer/ton) - [TON @ Stylepark](https://www.stylepark.com/en/manufacturer/ton) TON Related Articles [REVIEW – SALONE DEL MOBILE & MILAN DESIGN WEEK 2024 Nostalgia and drive 4/23/2024 The Salone del Mobile.Milano and Milan Design Week took place from 16 to 21 April 2024 – read our review to find out what moves the industry and the guests got to see.](https://www.stylepark.com/en/news/salone-del-mobile-milan-design-week-review-design-industry-event-stylepark-magazine) [DESIGN TON 2020: AGAIN 5/4/2020 Furniture manufacturer TON is currently presenting its new "Again" collection.](https://www.stylepark.com/en/news/ton-2020-grand-slam-novelties-stage) [SALONE DEL MOBILE 2018 A question of balance 4/26/2018 At the Salone del Mobile TON showed the advanced version of “Chips” by Czech designer Lucie Koldová, which was presented for the first time at the imm cologne earlier this year.
