In the exhibition “Typecasting. An Assembly of Iconic, Forgotten and New Vitra Characters,” Robert Stadler lends furniture a voice. Let’s take a listen!
Sitting benches had long fallen out of fashion – especially in home interiors. However, over the past few years they have been experiencing a revival as people rediscover their usefulness for group seating. The Wood Bench, designed by Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby, is a robust and elegant bench made of solid wood, whose aesthetic and structural features correspond to their Wood Table. The two pieces make an ideal pairing, but thanks to the bench‘s archetypal form it can also be attractively combined with other tables or used as a solo object in a wide variety of interior settings. The Wood Bench is 41cm wide and available in several lengths (200, 220, 240, 260 cm) and di erent types of wood (natural oak, core smoked oak or American walnut). The rounded bottom edges of the seat are also found on the Wood Table.
