Product description

World famous architect and Pritzker prize winner Jean Nouvel and Wittmann Möbelwerkstätten have joined forces for the first time. Their first joint project was a range of upholstered furniture designed for Jean Nouvel's Hotel Sofitel Vienna. The project partners went back to the drawing board with the initial designs to develop an exciting new range for home and contract use. The Vienna collection's stark lines stem from a radically reductionist approach. Flawless craftsmanship is particularly crucial for this simplicity and restraint to achieve the desired effect. "Elementarity" is one of the central concepts of Jean Nouvel's design philosophy. The new models are representative of the clarity and elegance that are the hallmarks of his architecture. The range is made up of pieces that are elemental and grounded in their simplicity. They can be combined in many ways, suiting them to use in a wide variety of domestic and architectural settings. For example, each model comes with a choice of narrow or broad armrests. There are modular elements with three different widths, and a chaise longue – all available with or without armrests (left/right or both sides). Each piece stand alone or used in combination with others as part of a wider seating arrangement. An armchair and a table – available in two different sizes – round out the collection. As always, any of the materials in the Wittmann fabric and leather collections can be selected for the upholstery.
