A design classic reimagined in a new material: We’re raffling off a BACKENZAHN™ STEEL by e15. With this reinterpretation, e15 has translated Philipp Mainzer’s iconic design into folded stainless steel for the first time – thirty years after the original BACKENZAHN™ made of solid wood was introduced. The original’s characteristic silhouette, sculptural presence, and architectural clarity are preserved, while the new material gives the design a contemporary look. The precisely folded stainless steel construction emphasizes the striking form, making the BACKENZAHN™ STEEL appear equally as a functional piece of furniture and a sculptural design object. Thanks to its robust construction, it is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.

The winner may choose between three finishes: brushed stainless steel, powder-coated stainless steel in RAL 2002, and powder-coated stainless steel in RAL 9005. Each finish lends the design its own character – from the understated elegance of brushed stainless steel to the expressive luminosity of RAL 2002 and the timeless, sculptural effect of RAL 9005. This allows the BACKENZAHN™ STEEL to be individually tailored to different spaces and design styles.
