Designentwürfe von Architekten haben Tradition bei Artek: Schon in den Dreißigerjahren produzierte die finnische Firma Leuchten und Möbel von Alvar Aalto - im Jahr 2009 kommen nun Stuhl, Bank und Tisch von Shigeru Ban hinzu. Der Entwurf des japanischen Architekten basiert auf einem System aus L-förmigen Modulen, die unterschiedlich zusammengesteckt für verschiedene Nutzungen eingesetzt werden können. Ein System für alles also - das 10-Unit System. Hergestellt werden die Module aus UPM ProFi - einem Kompositmaterial aus recyceltem Papier und Kunststoff. Man darf gespannt sein, wie dieses Konzept in der Realität ausfällt.
