The Bitossi family boasts ancient tradition in the artistic ceramic field.
Only in 1921 Cav. Guido Bitossi started the first industrial activity with the foundation of Manifattura Cav. Guido Bitossi & Figli. Nowadays the Ceramica Bitossi, under the business name Flavia, belongs to the share-holding Gruppo Colorobbia.
The most important figure for the success of the company was that of the master Aldo Londi. With his originality and intuitions he marked a characteristic period in the ceramic history. Among the lines he created, we can remember in particular the line Rimini Blu, for which the Ceramica Bitossi is known all over the world.
From the fifties' the company thus starts the exportation of various products, that can be seen in the most important shop-windows of the world like at Bloomingdale's, Harrods, Galerie Lafayette, Takashimaya etc. With our RIEDIZIONI 50-70 we propose again many significant pieces taken from this long path, in a way to give the opportunity to those who love this material, to get into possession of a piece of history.
In 1950 the young architect Ettore Sottsass jr. arrives in Montelupo and there starts a new production line based on design. Unique pieces and collections can now be found in the most prestigious showrooms and galleries worldwide. Actually the company produces collections designed by Sottsass, Zanini, Fornasetti, Du Pasquier, Sowden and Palma & Vannicola.
The Bitossi production is attentive to actual lifestyle trends and it aims to a public ideally young attracted by researched details, like the clays used, the manual finishes, the enamels and colours. The various working processes are the combination of old techniques used in the past that were renewed and actualised today. All passages are followed with care by our artisans and this is the maximum guarantee of our product, of the originality and of the fascination of Made in Italy.
