Ventura Lambrate 2012
Both established and young designers, design labels, cultural institutions, initiatives, galleries and collectives are currently invited to apply to take part as exhibitors in Ventura Lambrate 2012 in Milan. The Ventura Lambrate is a design exhibition that runs on the outskirts of Milan parallel to the Milan furniture salon.
Architecture is subject to the constant changes in the overall economic, social and ecological framework, and tends to respond with new solutions. Entitled "Motopia: A new age for modular construction", on November 2 theorists and practitioners will discuss feasible future strategies for architecture at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles.
On November 3, design theorist Joachim Krausse will present two documentaries on "Lowest-Income Apartments" at Deutsches Architekturmuseum in Frankfurt/Main; he developed them together with architectural theorist Jonas Geist in 1981-4. They reflect on both the planners' perspectives and those of the inhabitants. The screening will be followed by a QA session and an open discussion.
Lectures, film screenings, and panel discussions go to make up the program of the "Reconsidering Postmodernism" conference that will run from November 11-12 at the CUNY Graduate Center in New York and explore the cultural significance of postmodernism.
Business of Design Week
For the ninth time, the Business of Design Week at the Design Centre in Hong Kong provides a platform for representatives of the worlds of design, technology, education and brand management to present their products and services. Under the heading of "Brand New Germany", this year Germany is taking the stage as the partner country. The program includes exhibitions, seminars and discussion forums, and will start on November 28 and run through to December 3.
