An old tower gets a new climate
17 August 2012
Lindner has spent more than 45 years developing solutions in all areas of interior fittings, insulation technology, industrial services and façade engineering. This includes metal ceilings, which in combination with other high-quality materials have integrated Plafotherm® heating and cooling systems – now widely installed in banks, museums, schools, airports and office buildings.

This is also the case in a number of Frankfurt’s skyscrapers, including “Main Tower”, “Westhafen Tower”, “MesseTurm” and now in the new “Silver Tower”, which was completed in 2011. The renovation and refurbishment of this 188-meter-high building was commissioned by Deutsche Bahn AG. Planning and project management came under the charge of Frankfurt architectural firm Schneider+Schumacher. Plafotherm® metal cooling ceilings and Plafotherm® plasterboard cooling ceilings by Lindner constituted an important aspect of the revitalization concept here; moreover the company manufactured a triangular-shaped version for the building as a special, one-off production.

In addition to the heating and cooling ceilings, the new office building also incorporates other ceiling systems by Lindner such as baffle and hook-on ceilings. Moreover, from its flooring range Lindner provided Nortec and Floor and more® systems for the Silver Tower. In recognition of the building’s particular focus on environmentally-friendly design the planners were awarded pre-certification in silver by the German Sustainable Building Council (DNGB).
