Barbican is a refuge and a stronghold. Konstantin Grcic has created a compact, geometric divan with a purity of form and a big personality, that offers a modern update on the traditional chaise and corner sofa. The asymmetric, plinth-like base of the Barbican is wrapped in a stretchy, knitted fabric with a tonal, speckled pattern, that encases the base like a piece of clothing. Comfort is provided by pillows and memory-foam toppers upholstered in bold, block colours. The design’s twin-colour cushions are used in combination and provide quick access to multiple looks. Designed to make an impact in any position within a space, Barbican can fulfil a wide range of needs, from seating islands to reading nooks.
