Produktbeschreibung

A chair for socialising and enjoyment
Petite is a chair for quiet moments with a coffee and a book, as well as lively conversations in the familiar bustle of local restaurants. A chair inspired by European café culture, combined with the refined aesthetics of contemporary Sweden.

A meeting point with character
One of the chair’s signature details is the joint between the back and the legs. Layers of beech have been moulded between a solid piece of timber, which forms a more powerful surface at the joints on the otherwise scant back. The surfaces are then worked to embrace the curved legs like an old friend. A detail that both sticks out and brings harmony to the shape, while contributing to the chair’s character.

A conical shape for an iconic look
The panels, just like the back plate, are made of layer laminated wood. The slightly conical shape makes the chair lighter and is a natural consequence of the manufacturing method. Besides giving a more contemporary look than traditional café chairs, the panel height adds to the chair’s stability. Unlike the classic Thonet chair, which often requires extra support for the legs, Petite stands steadily on its own four legs.

Stackable by design
The seat is somewhat convex and has a slightly reclining angle so you can sit more comfortably. The rear is arch shaped, which creates an opening towards the back. This makes the whole design more neat and tidy, but above all means the chairs can be spiral stacked.

On sturdy legs
The curved legs are another reason why Petite can be spiral stacked, while giving the chair more elasticity. At first glance it may appear round, but the shape is more oval and broader at the seat. This too is a detail to make the construction sturdy where needed, without losing lightness.

A café chair for the home
Petite is made for cosy cafés and relaxed restaurants, but looks just as good at the kitchen table. The neat construction makes it light to lift and stack when you need space. And when it is in use, it still does not take much room, either literally or figuratively. The clean design means it fits in without demanding attention. It is when you take a closer look that you see the craftsmanship in every detail.

“It’s about reduction and simplification. I have tried to rationalise away all unnecessary areas to reduce the number of components. It gives the chair a cleaner style, while also making it easier to build and uses resources more efficiently.”  – David Ericsson
